Google snippet preview: check title and meta description length in pixels
See how a page title and meta description will look in Google search results, measured in pixels the way Google truncates them. Load them from any URL or type your own.
How long should a title tag be?
Google cuts desktop titles at roughly 580 pixels, which is usually 50–60 characters. Wide letters (W, M, capitals) use more space than narrow ones (i, l, t), which is why this preview measures pixels rather than counting characters.
How long should a meta description be?
Around 920–1,000 pixels on desktop, roughly 150–160 characters. Longer descriptions are cut with an ellipsis. Google also rewrites descriptions it thinks don't match the search, so make the first sentence a direct summary of the page.
Why does Google show a different title from mine?
Google rewrites titles that are too long, stuffed with keywords, repeated across many pages or that don't describe the page. A unique, descriptive title under the pixel limit is the best way to keep yours.
